conference named after V.I.Krutovheld in January 2016 the
authors offer the synopsis of the current trends in heat and
power installation management and control systems. This
paper first considers management and control systems for
the conventional combustion engines. Electronic control
systems created with the microprocessor technology demon-
strate ample benefits. These systems have a significant im-
pact on the power and dynamic characteristics of the en-
gines, their fuel efficiency and exhaust toxicity characteris-
tics.Weanalyzed the current state of management and con-
trol systems development and pointed out the areas for the
future research projects. This article also reviews the major
challenges for the studies of diesel engine fuel injection
equipment, engine operating process and engine adaptation
for alternative fuel types, including bio-fuel
