The construction of triangular finite elements of a mixed type is detailed for a problem of plates bending with/without regard for transverse shear deformations. Test results for the simplest finite element with 9-degree of freedom from Timoshenko-Mindlin theory are presented. The element is formulated on the basis of the linear approximation of bend fields, turn angles and moments. It is illustrated by examples that the element is free of "effect of shear jamming".
