The matrix method of solving a problem on non-stationary oscillations of elastic systems is proposed that allows the discrete mathematical model that adequately embodies the real physical object properties to be successfully implemented and the numerical integration of the differential equation system with respect to time to be performed. Specific solutions for various loads are obtained. The solution is generalized for the case of damping. Solutions as matrix functions that coincide with Gantmakher solutions are obtained by the method independent of that used by F.R. Gantmakher. To validate the proposed method some test problems are solved.
