A solution of the thermoelasticity problem for thermocyclic stresses in a cylinder caused by transient periodic conditions of heat exchange with surroundings is obtained. The results of calculations with application of the derived relations and the quasi-steady temperature field found earlier are presented. The issue of search for solutions using numerical methods is touched upon, and the thermocyclic stress influence on the cylinder strength is estimated.
