The experimental study of the thermal condition of the steel wire while being cooled with the electrical current density j changing within the range j ≈ (6÷7) • 108 A•m-2 has shown that the wire is heated in a form of a periodic chain of hot and cold metal layers. The phenomenon observed is explained by the wave packet of electrons arising in the metal.
