Experimental setup and technique for investigating characteristics of exhaust spike diffuser for try-out of rocket engines

The possibility and expediency of application of the exhaust spike diffuser for altitude testing of liquid-propellant rocket engines for upper rocket stages are substantiated. An original constructive scheme of the experimental model for studying characteristics of this-type diffusers, the calculations for substantiating its geometry selection, and the description of key elements and types of the used metrological devices are given. Results of checkout run of this model are presented, which confirm the correctness of the proposed solutions.
