Results of heat state simulation of three variants of the experimental diesel piston construction are given. It is shown that using silicon nitride as a heat-insulating material reduces the total temperature of the piston, contributes to its temperature field equalization and decreases thermal stresses. Models were verified by comparing computational data with results of local temperature measurements both at metallic and ceramic parts of the compound piston.
