Damping Oscillations of Cluster of Fuel Elements of Case Heat-Generating Assemblies for Water-Cooled Reactors

A model is developed of damping the oscillations of a cluster of fuel elements in macro immovable liquid in the case heat-generating assemblies for water-cooled reactors. The model is based on consumption of the energy of re-distributing the liquid along a perimeter of a gap between the internal case surface and a peripheral row of fuel elements during vibration displacements of the cluster inside the gap. Calculated values of damping coefficients are obtained which are in a good agreement with experimental data.
