Profiling of Clearance Grooves of Spiral Drills

Problems to construct the second order tool for creating helical clearance grooves on spiral drills are considered. Profiling of clearance grooves is performed on the basis of method to specify a profile of the groove by two rectilinear generatrices. Analytical and geometrical descriptions of the groove profile and the profile of the shaper disc-cuter tooth are given. Relations to calculate the initial parameters for plotting the groove profile are presented. A method to optimize parameters of the cutter tooth profile is offered.
