An analytical approach to determination of a form of the deformable flat blank in the processes of hammering and closed-dye forging is considered. Based on the analysis of various functions that specify a horizontal plan of the forging profile, a radial pattern of the metal flow is chosen as most admissible for describing the distribution of metal flows on the contact surface. The juxtaposition with the known solution of I.Ya. Tarnovskii is given, which justifies correctness of the chosen pattern.
