Basic approaches and implementation methods for improving energy-mass characteristics and reliability of oxygen-kerosene liquid-propellant rocket engines of the space launch vehicles of the R-7 family, developed in NPO Energomash im. V.P. Glushko and KB Khimavtomatiki im. S.A. Kosberg, are considered. Main advantages of using liquid methane as fuel for a cruise multiple-usage liquid-propellant rocket engine are given.
