Fuel efficiency is the most important characteristic of the vehicle power plant. Both speed and load fluctuations may cause a decrease in vehicle efficiency. Their deviations from the optimal values in terms of the fuel efficiency result in increasing operational energy losses. The design of the vehicles with internal combustion engines is a challenge since such engines can develop an equal power at different combinations of speed rates and loading modes. Therefore, to reduce fuel consumption in the transient operation modes, it is necessary to develop a mathematical model for the algorithm of the fuel efficient engine control.
