Physical processes running in welding with the deep melting-through are analyzed. A two-dimensional numerical model of a process of interaction of the laser radiation with the channel medium is described. The following processes are considered: the heat and mass transfer, the radiation absorption and its re-emission by plasma, the plasma interaction with channel walls and the heat removal to the mass of a cold sample. The model sets a quantitative correlation between mode parameters and results of laser welding of butt-joints, which reduces costs for the production process development.
