Abstract
Designing the gas turbine engine combustion chamber is complicated by the high number of physical and chemical phenomena in comparison with the other engine components, as it significantly increases the design time. Combustion chamber influences the engine parameters, such as environmental friendliness, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and reliability. Therefore, improving and automating the gas turbine engine combustion chamber design methods is becoming a pressing issue. This paper considers a method making it possible to determine parameters of the annular combustion chamber at the initial design stage, when its configuration is still unknown. The proposed method is applicable in designing the combustion chamber based on its prototype. The AI-25 bypass turbojet engine is selected as a prototype, due to this engine test results availability at the Samara University laboratory. In addition to the main combustion chamber characteristics, such as total pressure loss, combustion efficiency, and the temperature field non-uniformity coefficient at the outlet, the paper applies an algorithm for computing the emission indices based on the statistical data. Thus, the developed module takes into account the engine parameters influence on the combustion chamber characteristics, which would allow for a more informed approach to assigning component parameters in design and development of new gas turbine engines, or upgrading the existing ones
